An Ugly Bike - NBC Picks Up The Story
By spokesman | August 16, 2008
After I posted on Thursday about the Ugly Bike that was seized at Union Station, I received a comment from Tom Sherwood of NBC 4 news, the local NBC affiliate. I responded via e-mail with some more information. News 4 posted a story entitled “Commuter’s Bike Considered Too ‘Ugly’ At Union Station” on their website on Friday morning and did a report for the 6PM news. Although my blog didn’t get mentioned in the story, I am glad that I was able to bring some additional attention to the story.
In the video report, it was mentioned that when the commuter retrieved her bike from the basement of Union Station, there were many other bikes there. I wonder how many of these other bikes were seized by overzealous security guards. The owners would think that their bikes had been stolen, not just seized and put in the bowels of Union Station. I hope that News 4 follows-up with a more detailed investigation.
