Funny Craigslist Bike Ads
By spokesman | October 17, 2008
You never know what you’ll find on Craigslist. Scanning the ads during this past week, I found a few bicycle gems.
Just ’cause you don’t own it doesn’t mean that you can sell it - “I warned my co-worker that if he left his bike in my office one more time that I would put it on Craigslist. And now here we are posting on Craigslist a nice Cannondale M400 bike barely ridden, in fact I’m not sure if it was ever meant to be a bike more than a place for dust to settle and to annoy his coworker. The going price is free or best offer, unless he comes down and gets the bike and store it in his own office.” - The ad disappeared very quickly, so I assume that the bike owner spends most of his working day looking at Craigslist, saw the ad and retrieved the bike.

This next bike also seems to be placed on the market by someone other than the true owner.
A Gary Lemond Bike - “I have a Gary Lemond bike for sale. 53 cm. Blue and gray in color. Has locking foot pedals. 3T XL handle bars, Shimano Ultegra brakes. A mesh flat seatr. Bike does have to flat tire. May just need air. I do not have the proper fitting to put air in it. Still has serial number tag on it.” - Since Greg Lemond had his falling out with Lance Armstrong and Trek, he has to find a way to unload the excess inventory. Clevering re-labeling the bikes with Gary Lemond will fool the authorized Trek dealers that can no long sell the Greg Lemond models.

A Gay Friendly Bike - “This one-year-old, lightly ridden, well maintained Diamondback Century Road Bike is in search of a new home. An AWESOME commuter bike, you’ll feel speedy, yet safe, tooling to work on this minty blue-green pedal machine. Light-weight, so easy to haul up the stairs, but of a sturdy build. If you want the specs, email me, or you know, use Google. This bike has been a part of the LBGT community since it’s purchase, but is open to a straight only adoption. However, this bike is diametrically opposed to the concept of Palin being a heartbeat away from the Presidency, and would balk at the idea of being a part of such a household - ie - would likely run (ride) away. This is just a consumer-friendly-buyer-beware-heads-up. Feel free to email with any questions - and thanks for checking the advert! ” - This bike has not been taken yet and since it is in a very Democratic area, it must be the price and not the Palin issue

That “LGBT” bicycle ad was hilarious. I can definitely see something like that running around here.

If I had a bike like that I’d be putting my name down for the Tour de France as well, no matter how much suffering it entails!
