See Lance in the Giro D’Italia
By spokesman | October 13, 2008
Bicyclists will have a unique opportunity next year to see Lance Armstrong in the 2009 Giro D’Italia. Since announcing his return to professional cycling, he has been invited to ride in the Giro D’Italia scheduled for May 9-31, 2009. Lance has accepted the invitation and will ride in his first Giro D’Italia. He had always skipped the Giro and instead focused his efforts on the Tour De France that takes place in July. However, there is no guarantee that his team will be invited to the Tour De France this year. Riding the Giro gives him the opportunity to race in one of the 3 grand tours and do something that he had never done prior in his career. If he wins, he can join the list of other cycling greats that have won both the Tour De France and the Giro D’Italia.
Since Lance has accepted, this creates a great opportunity to see him ride. There are many tour companies that offer tours where you can ride parts of the course and see the race. These tours tend to have limited space and sell out quickly. With Lance participating in the Giro, the demand will be higher this year.
The final route of the Giro will announced on Nov 29. Here are links to tour companies that have Giro tours: Outfitter Tours, Thomson Bike Tours , Bike Style Tours Adventure Travel Group, Ciclismo Classico, Grupetto Tours, and TopBike.
