Ten Reasons To Bicycle With Duct Tape
By spokesman | March 3, 2009

It is a good idea to carry duct tape when you ride, especially during a multi-day tour. You don’t need an entire roll; just wrap about 12 inches of duct tape around a tire lever (as shown in the above picture), a pump or a U-lock. The tape weighs virtually nothing but can very useful for emergency roadside repairs such as the ones listed below.
1- Patch a tire
2- Patch a tube - You should have a patch kit, but duct tape is actually better if the tube has a tear by the base of the valve.
3- Tape a broken spoke to a neighboring spoke
4- Secure a loose pannier, rack or bottle cage
5- Re-wrap handlebar tape
6- Repair a cracked toe clip
7 - Secure loose cables or wires
8 - Fix a helmet clasp
9 - Fix a broken glasses frame
10 - Seal a food package
